How to use mock exams and a mistake book to improve fast

Taking mock after mock without reviewing them wastes your best practice material. Use this four-step loop instead.

1. Test under real conditions

Sit a full mock exam with the real time limit. Do not pause.

2. Read the report

Look at the topics marked weak (below 60%) and borderline (60–79%). These are where marks are easiest to gain.

3. Practise each weak topic

Click Practise next to a weak topic. You will get ten questions with instant marking and a three-part explanation: the concept, the approach and the full solution.

4. Redo your mistakes

When you get a question wrong, choose why: concept, skipped step, misread the question, careless, or ran out of time. Wrong answers from mock exams also go into your mistake book. Redo each one — after two correct redos in a row it is marked mastered.

Why the reason matters

If most of your mistakes are "careless", more practice of new questions will not help; slowing down and checking will. If most are "concept", go back to the topic explanation.
